A new format for Arts Are Up!

After producing the January 2009 issue of Arts are Up! and laboring on the second issue (originally intended for February 2009), I took at step back and reviewed my original notes on this project, written in 2007. First, I realized that I had intended to create a quarterly publication, not a monthly. Second, after developing a taste for certain blogs on the Internet, I realized that the “all-at-once” distribution style of a magazine doesn’t fit the nature of the Internet.

In contrast to blogs, however, Arts are Up! wants to be user-friendly to the artist or reader who is looking for one article or subject only. Even with search engines, finding something archival on a blog reminds me of “guess and check” or a scrollfest.

Therefore, Arts are Up! will continue its magazine format while using blog-style release schedules. We will release articles for a certain month as they are available and archive the final products in monthly and subject areas, after the March 2009 issue is completed. Look for a new Archives section at that time.

Thanks for reading as we transform during the very process of creation.
